19 December 2017, in Bishkek was held a round table on the theme "Status of implementation of the model of transport of sputum specimens in the Naryn region of the Kyrgyz Republic".
The round table was held with participation of Deputy Minister of health of the KR, Amangeldi murzalieva, Director of the National Center of Phthisiology, representatives of international organizations, and representatives of the Naryn, Chui OTSSM, head IBT, nurses, family doctors in the pilot areas in Naryn oblast.
In the Kyrgyz Republic in the framework of Global Fund Grant,National center of Phthisiology under the Ministry of health of the Kyrgyz Republic, with technical support from UNDP, Project HOPE in 2017, a project development and implementation model of transport of sputum specimens in the Naryn region. The project aims to improve early detection and diagnosis of tuberculosis, by ensuring the transportation of sputum specimens at the primary level of care. As pilot areas for the project were selected Naryn, AK-Talaa, At-Bashy districts of Naryn oblast.
During the round table were presented and discussed results achieved in the framework of the project, as well as the strategy for further implementation of the system of transportation of sputum in the Kyrgyz Republic.
"Over the past 15 years, the Kyrgyz Republic achieved significant progress in the field of control of tuberculosis. The incidence decreased with of 167.8 to 98.2 cases per 100 thousand of the population, and mortality decreased from 27 to 6.3 cases per 100 thousand. Thus, the epidemiological situation remains difficult, because of the high prevalence of tuberculosis with multidrug resistance. The Kyrgyz Ministry of health, National Center of Tuberculosis, Department of disease prevention and public epidemic supervision,with financial support from the Global Fund, UNDP and technical support of Project HOPE in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2017, implemented the project on development and introduction of a model of transport of sputum specimens, aimed at providing universal access to laboratory diagnosis. For 2017, the time, Project HOPE provides the country with technical support in implementing a National electronic tracking system for cases of tuberculosis. I hope that today's event would be useful and would be the next step for the early detection of tuberculosis, ensure access to modern methods of laboratory diagnosis and monitoring treatment of tuberculosis in the Kyrgyz Republic. We are looking forward to our further fruitful cooperation aimed at improving the health of citizens of Kyrgyzstan", - said Amangeldi of Mursaliev, Deputy Minister of health of the KR.
