17 December international Day to end Violence Against Sex workers
This is the day of the open expression of solidarity and support for those faced with violence and this day of unity, the sex workers
Leading human rights and medical organizations and Treaty bodies of the UN call to stop violence against sex workers all over the world!
International human rights organization "Amnesty International" supports the global movement of sex workers and calls for the decriminalization of sex work, de jure and de facto in their Politics on the state obligations to respect, protect and fulfil the human rights of sex workers.
The organization "doctors of the World" this year on the occasion of 17 December solidarity supports sex workers and also calls for decriminalization. The appeal said that the organization in France and at the international level every day watching the consequences of repressive laws governing sex work, health and physical integrity of sex workers.
The Committee on the elimination of discrimination against women (CEDAW) calls on Governments of the region to protect sex workers from violence, including:
- The government of Kyrgyzstan to establish an oversight mechanism to monitor violence against sex workers by the police;
- The government of Tajikistan to revise the legislation so that sex workers are not penalized and to provide comprehensive protection for women and girls, including measures to combat violence against sex
- The government of Russia to cancel the discriminatory article 6.11 of the code of administrative offences and to create a monitoring mechanism to track cases of violence against sex workers, including by police officers.
It is proven that the decriminalization of sex work in the law and in practice, will help in the fight against violence against sex workers.
