From November 17, Kyrgyzstanis can receive an additional (third) dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at all vaccination points in Bishkek, for other regions the booster dose will be available within one week.

Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis clarifies who can receive a second dose of COVID vaccine

In Kyrgyzstan, there are vaccines "Sinopharm", "Sinovac", "Sputnik Light", QazVac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer.

Sputnik Light is a simplified version of Sputnik V and is one of the two components of the main vaccine. In Russia, since November 1, it has been used only for revaccination.

Vaccines "Sinopharm", "Sinovac", QazVac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer are two-component vaccines, but the first and second doses of drugs are the same.

And the first and second doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine differ in their components. The first dose includes adenoviral particles of serotype 26, and the second - adenoviral particles of serotype 5, that is, they complement. There are no changes in the composition of excipients.

Who can get an extra dose?

• persons with moderate to severe immunodeficiency;
• persons aged 60 and over who have previously received Sinofarm, Sinovac1 and other inactivated vaccines;
• health care workers with a very high risk of infection and transmission of coronavirus infection;
• persons after a previous illness of COVID-19 (including in previously vaccinated persons).

An additional dose is introduced with the consent of citizens. The first three categories of citizens can receive it no earlier than 6 months after receiving the primary vaccination series. For those who have recovered from COVID-19, at least 1 month after recovery.

To obtain an additional dose, previously obtained types and platforms of vaccines can be used, and the Sputnik Lite vaccine can also be offered for an additional dose.

Also, persons traveling abroad can receive a repeated primary series of vaccination - according to the entry requirements of the receiving party and in the presence of supporting documents. This is an exceptional measure aimed at providing citizens with the possibility of cross-border movements before streamlining the processes of international mutual recognition of Vaccination Certificates against COVID-19.

For this category of citizens, the right to choose immunization with vaccines that are the conditions of the host party — Sinopharm, Sinovak, Sputnik Light, QazVac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer can be granted.

Repeated primary vaccination series is possible 1 month after receiving the last dose.

Important: An additional (third) dose within the primary vaccination series is possible provided that the maximum coverage of priority target groups of the population is achieved with two doses.
