As part of a new grant from the Global Fund, UNDP has opened shelters for people in need with tuberculosis and HIV, as well as for key population groups. In particular, UNDP has opened a new temporary residence center for patients with drug-resistant tuberculosis undergoing outpatient treatment in Bishkek, which is currently the only center of its kind for people with tuberculosis. The project continues to finance two shelters for people with HIV in Bishkek and Osh. In all these centers, clients can continue to receive treatment or prevention of tuberculosis and HIV, as well as receive medical, social and psychological support from doctors, peer counselors, psychologists, treatment assistants and lawyers. In addition, the project has recently purchased food and hygiene items for all partner centers working with key population groups.
