UNDP participated in the national information campaign for the World Tuberculosis Day

This year, World Tuberculosis Day was held under the global slogan "Time is running out" to remind of the urgency of combating the tuberculosis epidemic worldwide in an unprecedented health crisis. UNDP participated in the national information campaign to inform the population about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis. UNDP participated in the following activities:

• Tuberculosis-related broadcasts were organized on national TV channels;

• Students of KSMU (Kyrgyz State Medical Academy) distributed to the population about 700 booklets with information about tuberculosis in the shopping centers of the capital;

• UNDP conducted a quiz for KSMU students on tuberculosis and provided memorable prizes to the best teams and the most active participants;

• Banners about tuberculosis were posted at bus stops and shopping malls in the capital;

In addition, UNDP provided financial support to the NGO "Believe in Yourself" in purchasing hygiene packages for 65 patients undergoing treatment for drug-resistant tuberculosis in the Kara-Balta hospital, which included soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, napkins and other necessary items.
