At the request of the country, UNDP and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Project are allocating about 500,000 US dollars to help the Kyrgyz Republic in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The Global Fund has enabled countries in need of reallocation of funds to provide an emergency response to the new coronavirus pandemic through a grant and planned activities in the field of HIV and tuberculosis.

The Global Fund project has already delivered 50,000 masks and 2,000 FFP2 respirators to medical workers in the country. Additional redistributed funds are used for the purchase of medical equipment: 10 artificial lung ventilation devices and 6,500 rapid diagnostic tests that allow the diagnosis of COVID-19 using GeneXpert devices previously delivered to the Kyrgyz Republic by the Global Fund for the Diagnosis of Tuberculosis and HIV. These tests will be used as a priority for diagnosis in patients with tuberculosis or HIV. Ventilators are planned to be distributed to the National Center of Phthisiology, the State Penitentiary Service, the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital, Osh and Jalal-Abad regional hospitals.
