New USAID-supported TB project launched in Kyrgyzstan

On October 25, 2019, the official opening of the five-year USAID Cure Tuberculosis Project took place in Bishkek. Representatives of the Government Office of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Health, heads of medical institutions and international partners took part in the event. The Project will implement progressive, structural and sustainable transformations in the TB service in Kyrgyzstan, aimed at reducing the burden of tuberculosis. The new project focuses on drug-resistant tuberculosis and its treatment. “The Ministry of Health, together with partners, will continue the fight against tuberculosis in Kyrgyzstan: the formation of effective, patient-centered care for TB patients, the strengthening of the outpatient model with appropriate integration of services, the introduction of information systems at all levels and new treatment methods, as well as the development of intersectoral cooperation,” said Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Kosmosbek Cholponbaev.
