18-20 June, the Regional meeting on capacity building for advocacy and safe treatment LU-T

We would particularly welcome applications from representatives of communities, patients, representatives of organizations working with vulnerable groups and/or providing services for people living with TB, TB/HIV, as well as representatives of civil society organizations working in the field of advocacy of access to treatment for TB, TB/HIV, focused on human needs.

The tasks of the regional meetings:

To increase understanding about new the who guidelines for Dr-TB to achieve high-quality, human-oriented and based on the human rights of TB care;

To identify barriers in the countries to implement the new who guidelines for Dr-TB and to define the role of civil society in overcoming these barriers;

To determine the steps that can be taken by civil society to generate demand from people treated from tuberculosis, in respect of the use of new and safe medicines;

To improve the understanding of the role of informed consent in the selection of treatment options as an instrument based on human rights, and to help civil society to improve the practice of informed consent in their countries.

To improve understanding of approaches to monitor side effects of treatment;

To familiarize participants with the international mechanisms of compulsory and voluntary licensing, which helps to reduce the prices of anti-TB drugs and to determine the role of civil society in regulatory processes;

To identify effective ways of involving parliamentarians in the region to overcome structural barriers.

Who can apply for participation in the regional meeting?

You can apply for participation in the regional meeting if:

ü You want to help your local community of people living with TB, TB/HIV in receiving high-quality, oriented to needs of TB care;

ü working in the field of advocacy of access to treatment for people living with TB, TB/HIV;

ü ready to promote access to safe and affordable treatment of Dr-TB in Your country;

ü live in one of the following countries:

· Ukraine

· Uzbekistan

· Tajikistan

In Kazakhstan

· Kyrgyzstan

· Turkmenistan

In Azerbaijan

In Armenia

In Georgia

In Moldova

In Belarus

Meeting materials will be in English and Russian languages. You must be fluent one of these languages.

The number of places for participation in the regional meeting are limited.

The cost of the participation in the meeting:

TBEC will cover the expenses (flight economy class, accommodation, meals) associated with participating in a regional meeting from 18 to 20 June 2019.
