13 may international day against homophobia, transphobia, biphobia
To celebrate the day of IDAHOBIT (international day against homophobia, transphobia, biphobia - International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia) 2019 at CU this year the celebration will be held under the theme “Justice and protection for all.” The topic is relevant for Kyrgyzstan for the following reasons:
-LGBTIQ people are subjected to systemic discrimination at all levels of society and is supported by the state;
-LGBTIQ people have physical and psychological violence in their close environment, family and other members of the society, and the more often this violence is invisible;
-Law enforcement agencies do not conduct a fair investigation of hate crimes the hatred of LGBTIQ, showing loyalty to violence and discrimination;
-LGBTIQ community less protected by the health care system than heterosexual people;
-Radical nationalist groups terrorized and demonized LGBTIQ, and the police do not act within the law to protect our community;
In this connection, LGBTIQ communities and allies(-Tsam) it is important to create safe spaces and to surround each other with support and solidarity.
In honor of the holiday will be organized a number of informational, educational, entertainment and sporting events that filled the Week IDAHOBIT-2019 in Bishkek.
