THE STAGE OF THE DISEASE

Stage incubation — the period from the moment of infection before occurrence of reaction of the organism in the form of clinical manifestations of acute infection and/or production of antibodies. The duration of this period ranges from 3 weeks to 3 months, in rare cases may take up to a year.

Initial manifestations can occur in several forms:

• asymptomatic;
• acute HIV infection without secondary diseases;
• acute HIV infection with secondary diseases;

Latent stage — the duration of this stage can vary from 2-3 to 20 or more years, with an average of 6-7 years. During this period there has been a gradual decline in CD4+ T-lymphocytes.

Stage of secondary diseases on the background of immunodeficiency developing secondary (opportunistic) diseases. Depending on the severity of secondary diseases in this stage there are three podstudio (4A, 4B, 4C).

End-stage (AIDS) — are available in patients with secondary diseases become irreversible course. Even adequately carried out antiretroviral therapy and treatment of secondary diseases is not effective and the patient dies within a few months.
