Implementation of an additional Grant for Kyrgyzstan from the Global Fund

In connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of new cases of tuberculosis and HIV has decreased in the country, the treatment of these diseases has worsened, patients and representatives of key groups have become even more vulnerable, isolated, discriminated against and need redoubled attention. Despite the ongoing efforts to fill these gaps by medical workers, there is a shortage of medical equipment, personal protective equipment, etc.

The Global Fund allocated an additional grant to Kyrgyzstan in the amount of 6,609,097 US dollars to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The activities planned under the grant will help the health system provide better services to all those in need, in particular people living with HIV and people with tuberculosis.

This grant helps the health care system in a crisis and will help save more lives and improve the health of the entire population of the country.

The implementation of the Grant began in August 2021, a number of procedural activities were carried out: procurement and implementation of the software part. As of 11/29/21, all procurement procedures were carried out for the National Center for Phthisiology of a negatoscope (3-staff) portable ECG apparatus, a portable ultrasound machine, for the Republican AIDS Center - 2 stationary ultrasound machines, for laboratory equipment for diagnosing COVID-19, and personal protective equipment (PPE) and disinfectants for all sub-recipients. The work on the development of the Grant continues.
