On September 25, 2019, the results of the research on the Bridging the Gaps Project will be presente

On September 25, 2019, the results of the study “Impact of community empowerment on access to sexual and reproductive health and rights services, including HIV, in accordance with SWIT, for all sex workers - women, men and trans sex workers, will be presented. Case of Kyrgyzstan ".

The research was carried out with the support of AIDSFonds, the Netherlands, within the framework of the international project "Bridging the Gaps" throughout 2018 with the active participation of community members from 7 regions of Kyrgyzstan. The author's research group included a team of employees of the American University of Central Asia and the Tais Plus Public Association. During the quantitative study, 500 sex workers were interviewed, and 21 interviews were collected and 8 focus groups were conducted. Various aspects of community strengthening in Kyrgyzstan were explored with the aim of better understanding the problems and further empowering sex workers.

The results of this study demonstrate the tremendous work that has been done in the country to prevent HIV and STIs with sex workers in partnership with government, international and nongovernmental organizations, and also provide answers to questions about what areas of activity need to be strengthened to improve the effectiveness of the national response to HIV based on human rights.

The results of the study will be presented during the presentation of the report, which will take place on September 25, 2019, at 14.00 at AUCA at st. Aaly Tokombayev, 7/6.
